Southern Connecticut Men Start Northeast-10 Off Strong

After the first session of the Northeast-10 Conference Championships, the Southern Connecticut men’s team is ahead of the competition, winning both the 200 medley relay and 800 freestyle relay.

The team of Raymond Snyder (23.30), Raymond Cswerko (25.05), Dylan Swanepoel (22.81) and Brendan Murphy (20.00), won the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:31.16. They were just shy of the SCSU conference record set in 2014 (1:31.08). Le Moyne’s relay team of Chris Mosconi (24.31), Ben Verdi (26.02), Daniel Tarbrake (22.69) and Travis May (20.38) came in second in a time of 1:33.42. Saint Rose’s 200 medley team, Eric Howard (24.32), Elie McRae (26.02), Trevor Attile (22.69) and Jordan Gregg (21.06) came in third with a 1:34.09.

In the 800 freestyle relay, the SCSU men also took first in a time of 6:48.05. This team of Tyler Vander Vos (1:39.05), Louis Geist (1:42.19), Christopher Curtin (1:44.06) and Dylan Swanepoel (1:42.75) broke the College of Saint Rose’s 2014 NE-10 record that was previously a 6:52.01. Bentley came in second with team of Owen Karl (1:43.23), Kevin Dieffenbach (1:43.94), Aiden Karam (1:43.40) and Davis Wilson (1:43.02) finishing in a 6:53.59. Saint Rose’s Eric Howard (1:43.80), Jordan Gregg (1:43.45), Timothy Wilson (1:43.21) and Trevor Attile (1:44.12) finished in third (6:54.58).

On the women’s side, Le Moyne and SCSU also started off well. Le Moyne’s team of Tara O’Donnell (26.78), Kelsey Smith (29.87), Alyssa Baker (24.91) and Sarah Gaffney (24.83) took the 200 medley win in the time of 1:47.56. SCSU’s team, Aubrey Bailey (27.67), Lily Martin (30.07), Emily Wolfe (25.25) and Katherine Krajcik (23.95) came in second with a 1:53.07. Assumption’s team of, Victoria Weber (27.44), Rachel Ferris (30.01), Courtney Barr (25.64) and Allie Wuerfl (24.08) came in third (1:47.17)

The Bentley team also broke the NE-10 record in the 800 freestyle relay. Their team of Brooke Jameson (1:55.66), Kate Kaduboski (1:55.92), Emily Niemiec (1:55.53) and Kaitlin McGahie (1:52.91) went a 7:40.02 breaking the previous record of a 7:40.70 held by SCSU since 2007. Assumption came in second with a 7:41.81 by team Niamh Morgan (1:57.16), Shannon Quirk (1:55.27), Tricia Lee (1:55.77) and Rachel Lanam (1:53.61). SCSU came in third with their team of Katie Crochet (1:53.02), Sydney Fromkin (1:54.68), Katherine Krajcik (1:57.08) and Christina Lavery (1:57.36) in a time of 7:42.14.

It’s actually spelled “Le Moyne”
