Final Day of Northeast 10 Championships Begins

The final day of the Northeast 10 Conference Championships started off strong this morning.
In the women’s 200 backstroke this morning 100 backstroke winner, Tara O’Donnell of Le Moyne finished first with a time of 2:04.70. Assumption’s Niamh Morgan (2:06.76) came in second and Bentley’s Kate Kaduboski (2:08.11) got third.
In the men’s 200 backstroke Southern Connecticut’s Raymond Cswerko won the event with a 1:52.83, Tim Connolly of Bentley finished second in a 1:53.64 and SCSU junior Raymond Snyder came in third (1:54.40)
50 and 200 freestyle Southern Connecticut’s winner, Katie Crochet (51.41) touched first in the women’s 100 freestyle prelims this morning. With this time, Crochet broke her own 2015 record of 51.89. Bentley’s Kaitlin McGahie went a 53.32 coming in second and Kaitlyn Fitzgerald of PACE touched right behind her in a 53.66.
The top three of the men’s 100 freestyle all went 46 seconds this morning. SCSU’s sprinter Brendan Murphy touched first with a 46.50, teammate Tyler Vander Vos came in second (46.67) and Nianzhing Liu went a 46.78 for third.
In the women’s 200 breast Saint Rose’s Shannon Walsh (2:26.04) out touched PACE’s Cassandra Muldoon (2:26.08) who finished second and Emily Niemiec (2:26.24) who got third.
Elie McRae also won the men’s 200 breast for St. Rose this morning. He touched first in a 2:05.88, Christopher Curtin of SCSU came in second (2:06.85) and PACE’s Alexandar Dimcevski finished in third (2:09.46).
In the women’s 200 butterfly this morning SCSU’s Aubery Bailey finished first in 2:09.14, out touching Bentley’s Anne Warren (2:09.19). Assumption’s Rachel Lanam came in third with a 2:09.82.
Shane Maypother of Southern Connecticut is going in seeded first tonight in the men’s 200 butterfly with a time of 1:53.33. Yesterday’s 100 fly winner from Le Moyne, Travis May came in right behind Maypother with a time of 1:53.43 and one one hundredth behind him was SCSU’s Dylan Swanepoel came in third (1:53.44).
The men’s and women heats of the 1650 freestyle will be swum later today as a finals only event.
