Robert Hurley, Part One, on The Morning Swim Show

March 12, 2013: World champion Robert Hurley joins today's edition of The Morning Swim Show to talk about his visit to the United States to train with Olympians in his bid to compete for a spot on the Australian world championship team. This is the first part in a two-part interview with Hurley on the show. Hurley, the 2012 short course world champion in the 50 backstroke, talks about the people who helped convince him to visit Tucson, Ariz., for three months to train, and what he’s experienced while working with the college and postgraduate swimmers at the University of Arizona. He has a unique physical capacity in the pool, able to do a sprint race and distance swim well at the elite level – though he will say he is more built to be a sprinter. He talks about the competition he’ll face next month at the Australian world championship trials and what the 800 freestyle relay needs to race the best countries in the world.
