Ball Squeeze with Breast Kick

Purpose: Many novice breast swimmers have difficulties keeping their thighs narrow during the breast kick. This dry-land activity may help cue swimmers to keep their thighs narrow, while bringing their feet wide, both essentials for maintaining streamline and maximizing force potential for the breast kick. Directions: Have each swimmer lie on their stomach with a "dodge" or "exercise" ball between their thighs. Next, have the swimmer squeeze this ball with their thighs, then bring their feet as wide as possible, while maintaining the same pressure at their thigh. Perform for 15 - 20 repetitions.
