The official announcement of Ian Thorpe’s comeback this week was just the latest in a long list of Olympians making a return to competition. With all these comebacks come interesting topics of debate. How do these moves affect the public’s interest in the sport of swimming? Are these athletes re-discovering a passion for the sport, or failing to discover any passion outside of the sport? And I hate to even bring it up but what about the hot topic in sports these days, performance enhancing drugs?
