The Road to Singapore
When the United States Trials were held in Indianapolis, it was assumed Casas would qualify for the squad bound for Singapore. Yet, in what events? Casas’ versatility is a strength, but it also leaves questions. Eventually, Casas locked in berths to the World Champs over three disciplines – backstroke, butterfly and medley.
Casas heads to his next international appearance ranked fifth in the world in the 100 fly (50.51), sitting third in the 50 backstroke (24.23) and ranked first in the 200 IM (1:55.73). Casas also figures to be a factor on multiple relays for Team USA.

Casas has made four podium appearances at the long-course version of the World Championships – one individual and three relay. He was the bronze medalist in the 200 backstroke at the 2022 Worlds and secured three relay medals at the 2024 World Champs in Doha.
