Villanova Women Claim 12th Consecutive Big East Title; Georgetown Wins Men’s Title

The Villanova women’s swimming and diving team continued its impressive streak of Big East titles, winning its 12th consecutive conference championship this week.

The Wildcats scored 1,588 points to hold off UConn (1,516), Xavier (1,167), Georgetown (1,040), Seton Hall (845), Butler (570) and Providence (475).

Villanova’s Alana Leen won the 200 backstroke with her time of 1:57.26, marking the 10th year the Wildcats have won event.

Villanova’s Riley Kudlac, Amylia Higgins, Anna Farley and Martina Lonati won the 800 free relay in 7:15.66. Carlota Colomer, Kudlac, Lainey Quinones and Lexi Elkovitch won the 200 free relay in 1:31.39.

Arabella Lee won the 100 butterfly in a B-cut 53.13.

Xavier’s Reese Turner, Jordyn Libler, Erin Ritz and Olivia Oyster won the 200 medley relay in 1:39.52. Turner, Libler, Ritz and Alexis Worrall won the 400 medley relay in 3:38.46.

Oyster won the 50 free in a B-cut 22.57 and the 100 free in 49.10, also a B cut. Worrall won the 200 free (1:47.14). Libler won the 100 breast (1:00.47), a B cut. Ritz won the 200 butterfly (1:57.46), in a B cut.

Worrall, Turner, Ritz and Oyster won the 400 free relay (3:19.46).

UConn’s Olivia Denery won the 1-meter diving (290.45), leading a 1-2-3-4 Husky sweep. Kate Cooper won 3-meter (327.35). Maggie Donlevy won the 100 backstroke in a B-cut 53.45. Sydney Perkins won the 200 breaststroke(2:12.52), in a B cut.

Seton Hall’s Allie Waggoner won the 500 free in 4:45.45, an NCAA B cut. She won the 400 IM in 4:14.04, also a B cut, and the 1650 in a meet record 16:06.75.

Georgetown’s Angelica Reali won the 200 IM (1:59.83).

In the men’s meet, Georgetown won with 836 points. Seton Hall was second with 709, followed by Xavier (688), Villanova (588) and Providence (261).

Georgetown’s Jack Januario won the 500 free in 4:23.20. Owen Watkins won the 50 free in 19.71 and 100 free (43.41). Bailey De Luise won the 100 breast (53.49). Nicholas Santiago won 1-meter diving with 332.95 points. Nick Pezzella won the 200 breast in a B-cut 1:56.01.

Seton Hall’s Balint Marosi, Michael Klimaszewski, Jaden Bunt and Kevin Cary won the 800 free relay in 6:27.12. Klimaszewski won the 100 fly in a meet record 46.15. Sean Vizzard won the 1650 free (15:09.74), a B cut.

Thoma Adam, Marosi, Cary and Klimaszewski won the 400 free relay (2:56.10).

Marosi win the 200 IM (1:46.47) and 200 back (1:46.21). Cary won the 200 free (1:36.04).

Xavier’s Matt Fralic, Ethan Saunders, Aiden Leamer and Gage Hannewyk won the 200 medley relay in 1:27.39. Leamer, Kyle Hudson, Saunders and Hannewyk won the 200 free relay in 1:20.54.

Fralic, Saunders, Leamer and Hudson won the 400 medley relay in 3:11.15. Leamer won the 200 fly in a meet record 1:43.38, an NCAA B cut.

Villanova’s Nicholas Jubilee won 3-meter diving with 370.85 points. Justin Nowicki won the 400 IM (3:49.61). Cole Gorsuch won the 100 back (48.25).
