(Video Interviews) Ruta Meilutyte, Adam Peaty And Others Speak at Edinburgh International
This weekend proved to be a pretty fast one at the Edinburgh International in Scotland.
Ruta Meilutyte and Adam Peaty were two of the top swimmers of the weekend, and Scottish Swimming caught up with them throughout the meet.
Plenty of other swimmers also were interviewed as well. Click on the link to the right to check out the rest of those conversations.
Meilutyte moved to the top of the world in the 50 breast and second in the 100 breast this weekend.
Ruta Meilutyte provided an answer to Yuliya Efimova’s top-ranked time in the women’s 100-meter breast with a sizzler of her own at the Edinburgh International.
Earlier this month, Efimova threw down a smoking top-ranked time of 1:05.70 in the event at the Arena Pro Swim Series Orlando. Today, Meilutyte checked in with a second-ranked 1:05.82, going out in 30.40.
Yvette Man-yi Kong took second today in 1:07.88, while Corrie Scott finished third in 1:08.33.
Meanwhile, Peaty blasted the men’s 100-meter breaststroke event as well.
Adam Peaty unloaded the fastest men’s 100-meter breaststroke of the year at the 2016 Edinburgh Invitational.
Peaty uncorked a 59.55 to move ahead of Yasuhiro Koseki (59.67) and Andrew Wilson (59.91) for the top spot in the rankings. Those are the only three swimmers to legally complete a sub-1:00 time this year. Cody Miller had broken a minute at the Arena Pro Swim Series, but drew a disqualification.
Peaty split the race 27.85, 5955 (31.70). Craig Benson tied Ross Murdoch for second behind him with 1:00.92s.
