RIVERSIDE, California, May 18. HART’s Cole Cogswell had the chance to swim against one of his personal idols in Kyle Gornay, and wound up beating him in the 100-yard free at the CIF Southern Sectional Championships.
Swimming World correspondent Griffin Scott chatted with Cogwell after the session.
Cogswell took down Gornay, 43.97 to 44.03, in the 100-yard free after taking second to Grant Shoults, 1:35.99 to 1:36.81, in the 200-yard free. He also posted a 44.63 leadoff for Hart’s 400-yard free relay winning effort of 3:02.41.
