[VIDEO] 10K Open Water Champions Discuss Race Strategy, Weather, and Pan Pacific Championships
This summer swimmers from around the country will be looking to grab a spot on Team USA’s roster for the 2018 Pan Pacific Championships in Tokyo, Japan. While many will have to wait until June and the 2018 Phillips 66 National Championships, four open water swimmers earned their spots today at the 2018 Open Water Nationals.
Competing in Tempe, Arizona, Jordan Wilimovsky and Ashley Twichell successfully defended their 2017 10K titles and earned an automatic trip to Tokyo. Fellow open water stars David Heron and Haley Anderson finished second, also earning their spots on the Pan Pacs roster.
Each of the four athletes heading to Tokyo took time after their races to talk to Swimming World and the Arizona Republic about race strategy, the water temperature/weather conditions, and what it means to earn a spot on Team USA’s Pan Pacs roster.
