INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, March 23. SOUTHERN California's Haley Ishimatsu drilled her final dive, collecting several 9s, en route to an NCAA record win in the platform event at the NCAA Division I Women's Championships.
Ishimatsu compiled a total tally of 396.75 points, far surpassing the five-dive record of 357.85 set by Texas' Jessica Livingston in 2007. The win is USC's second platform triumph ever, adding to the 2002 conquest by Blythe Hartley.
Tennessee's Victoria Lamp nailed her final dive as well, pulling into second with 328.60 points, while Indiana's Amy Cozad earned third-place honors with 325.20 points.
Ohio State's Cheyenne Cousineau (298.70), Georgia's Laura Ryan (294.65), Miami's Kara McCormack (286.20), UCLA's Emma Ivory-Ganja (283.45) and California's Kahley Rowell (271.25) also competed in the championship finale.
Georgia finished diving with an insurmountable team-leading tally of 437 points. Even a relay disqualification cannot cost them a title.
California held a firm second with 361 points, while Texas A&M (301.5) and Tennessee (295.5) are in a close contest for third. Southern California (283) and Florida (279) stand fifth and sixth heading into the final relay.
