Timothy Squires Among Several Olympic Trials Qualifiers at Speedo Sectionals Geneva
Several swimmers cleared Olympic Trials cuts at the 2016 Speedo Sectionals Geneva, including ASC’s Timothy Squires in the men’s 50-meter free.
Squires (23.08), Meli Malani (23.18) and Daniel Kanorr (23.29) all made the Olympic Trials cut in the men’s 50-meter free.
Ohio State’s Halime Zeren raced her way to an Olympic Trials cut in the women’s 200-meter back with a 2:13.21. ASC’s Kendall Shields, 15, just missed the cut of 2:16.59 with a 2:16.81 for second. Riptide’s Kelly Leonard placed third in 2:17.37.
Indiana’s James Beckman just made the Olympic Trials cut in the men’s 200-meter back with a 2:03.71. WOSC’s Spencer Carl (2:04.61) and IU’s Joseph Lane (2:05.25) finished second and third.
Kaitlyn Johnson cleared the Olympic Trials cut in the women’s 50-meter free with a 25.97. Cynthia Donovan (26.39) and Susan Franz (26.46) rounded out the top three.
IU’s Laura Morley won the women’s 200-meter breast in 2:36.23. Carlie Perretta (2:37.87) and Paloma Marrero (2:38.04) finished second and third.
Jacob Foster (2:17.15) and William Schrensky (2:17.98) each posted Olympic Trials cuts in the men’s 200-meter breast. Ryan Fisher took third in 2:21.64.
Olivia Johnson claimed the women’s 800-meter free in 8:55.81 with FAST teammate Margaret Jahns taking second in 9:07.19. Emma Bradley wound up third in 9:09.83.
IU went 1-2-3-4-5 in the men’s 1500-meter free. Matt Anderson led the way with a 15:41.43. Adam Destrampe took second with a 15:45.97. Both cleared the Olympic Trials cut. Jack Collins (16:01.25), Joseph Snodderly (16:02.73) and Andrej Ivanonic (16:13.98) completed the rest of the top five.
