Swimming World Fall Classic Concludes With Five More Pool Records

The Swimming World Fall Classic wrapped up Saturday evening in Bristol, R.I., with five more pool records going down. Bluefish swimmers Harry HomansGianna Spremullo and James Misto concluded their exceptional meets with multiple wins each in the session.

Homans won the men’s 400 IM in 3:58.27, a pool-record time, before taking first in the 200 fly in 1:51.89. He finished off the meet with a pool record of 1:49.84 in the 200 back.

Spremullo, fresh off a three-pool-record performance Saturday night, added records in both the women’s 400 IM (4:23.46) and 200 back (2:01.82) on Sunday.

The other pool record came courtesy of Solo Aquatics’ Abbie Sullivan, who posted a time of 2:03.80 in the women’s 200 fly.

In other women’s events, Bluefish’s Ella Smith completed a breaststroke sweep with a 1:06.55 in the 100 breast, and Solo’s Liz Williams added a victory in the 100 free (52.71) to her earlier win in the 50 free. Commonwealth Current’s Natalie Manion won the 200 free in 1:54.82.

For the men, Solo’s Jared Zhang won the 200 free in 1:44.18 , and teammate Aaron Zhu was victorious in the 100 breast with a time of 1:00.28. Bluefish’s Will Hein won the 100 free in 48.89.

In the 11-12 age group, James Misto ended up seven-for-seven for the meet after winning the boys’ 200 free (1:55.45), 100 free (53.03) and 200 back (2:07.81). Tom Kiesewetter won the 11-12 boys’ 100 breast (1:07.29) and 200 fly (2:18.52).

Gwen Balboni won the 11-12 girls’ 200 free in 2:09.87 for Infinity Aquatics, and Mya Faulkner won the 100 breast in that age group in 1:14.79. All other 11-12 girls’ wins went to Bluefish swimmers: Kendall Liesching in the 200 fly (2:28.44), Hope Xayaveth in the 100 free (59.34) and Debbie Wells in the 200 back (2:17.36).

I witnessed some really great early season performances this weekend, thank you Swimming World and Bluefish and especially their coaching staff for creating an vision of excellence for so many athletes, HEJA, HEJA, HEJA!
