Stephanie Peacock Cruises To Eighth In World Rankings For The 800 Free
Night one of the 2016 TYR Fran Crippen Swim Meet of Champions displayed some strong distance showings beginning with a scare to the women’s 800 free record.
Stephanie Peacock cruised to a final time of 8:25.89 in the women’s 800 free to not only win first but near the meet record of 8:22.57 set in 2007 by Kate Ziegler. Peacock’s strong swim moves her to eighth in the world for the 2016 world rankings.
Hailey Houck posted the second fastest time of the evening in the 800 free with a finish of 8:47.23, while Reese Lamph rounded out the top three with a time of 8:54.43.
The men’s 1500 free was led by Ous Mellouli, who posted a final time of 15:15.46 to finish more than twenty seconds ahead of the competition. Second went to Daniel O’Connor who stopped the clock at a 15:35.98. Nick Norman was third with a final time of 15:41.58.
