Stephanie Au Dominates 200 Backstroke at Malaysia Open Day 4
Four more meet records fell on the final day of the 2016 Malaysian Open.
Raina Saumi Grahana was 11 seconds ahead of the field in the women’s 800 freestyle when she touched in 8:56.86. Cai Lin Khoo finished second in 9:07.77. Third went to Angela Chieng Chui Fei with a 9:13.70.
Angela Chieng Chui Fei set the meet record in the men’s 200 backstroke, touching in 2:02.81. I Gede Siman S Sudartawa was the runner up with a 2:05.23. Tiaa Faang Der earned bronze with a 2:11.69.
Stephanie Au won her third backstroke event of the weekend, with her meet record finish in the 200 backstroke, stopping the clock in 2:11.60. Yessy Yosaputra earned silver in 2:19.23 and bronze went to Redza Nadia Adrianna in 2:27.44.
Another meet record fell in the men’s 200 butterfly as Triady Fauzi Sidiq stopped the clock in 52.77. Team Indonesia teammate Glenn Victor Sutanto stopped the clock in 53.44 and Jie Chan finished third in 54.67.
Chan Kin Lok out touched Sze Hang Yu 1:00.00 to 1:00.03 on her way to the meet record in the 100 fly. Nicholle Toh Fann Rui completed the podium with a 1:02.40.
The men’s 1500 freestyle champion was Welson Sim Wee Sheng with a 15:35.63. Second place finisher Sajan Prakash stopped the clock in 15:47.68 and third went to Aflah Fadlan Prawira in 16:00.79.
Three swimmers finished under 27 seconds in the 50 freestyle, led by Camille Lily Mei Cheng in 25.95. Silver went to Chui Lai Kwan in 26.52 and Yu Wai Ting earned bronze in 26.61.
The men’s 50 freestyle champion was Triady Fauzi Sidiq in 23.06, ahead of Aaron D’ Souza‘s silver in 23.10 and Glenn Victor Sutanto‘s bronze in 23.39.
