Simone Manuel, Katie Ledecky, Kylie Masse, Maggie MacNeil Set For Greensboro Pro Swim (PSYCH SHEETS)
Psych sheets for first stop of TYR Pro Swim Series for 2019-20 season
The psych sheets for the first stop of the 2019-20 TYR Pro Swim Series have been released as some of USA Swimming’s best athletes will be in attendance this weekend in Greensboro, North Carolina. The meet will begin November 6 (Wednesday) with the 1500 and will continue through November 9 on Saturday night.
Four individual World Champions from this past summer will be at the TYR Pro Swim Series in North Carolina this weekend including Simone Manuel (50, 100 free), Katie Ledecky (800 free), Kylie Masse (100 back) and Maggie MacNeil (100 fly).
Manuel will be swimming the 50, 100, 200 free, 100 back and 100 fly as she is swimming in her first meet since the World Championships since she has bypassed the ISL this year. Her Stanford teammate Ledecky is swimming the 100, 200, 400, 800 free, and the 200 and 400 IM. Ledecky is notably not swimming the 1500, an event which she holds the world record in and won three World titles from 2013-2017. She did not swim the final of this event at the World Championships due to illness this summer and is holding off on competing in it for the time being. Ashley Twichell will be the top seed in Greensboro in the 1500.
Canadian world champs Masse and MacNeil will also be swimming in Greensboro this weekend, albeit for different teams. Masse is only swimming the 100 back for her Toronto Swim Club, who will be sending three swimmers to the meet. Masse is the two-time reigning World Champion in the 100 backstroke and is the reigning Olympic bronze medalist in the 100 back.
MacNeil is swimming just the 100 fly and 50 free for the University of Michigan this weekend at the TYR Pro Swim Series as she is in her sophomore season with the Wolverines. She will be swimming in her first long course meet since shocking the world in Gwangju in taking down world record holder Sarah Sjostrom in the 100 fly.
The men’s meet is nowhere near as stacked as the women’s side as the only medalists from the last World Championships are Kristian Gkolomeev, who won the silver in the 50 free for Greece, and Jay Litherland, who won silver in the 400 IM for the US. Gkolomeev is swimming for David Marsh and Team Elite and will be doing the 50 and 100 free. Litherland will have a heavier workload this weekend at the TYR Pro Swim Series as he is swimming the 200, 400 free, 100 back, 200 fly, 200 and 400 IM.

Wish I could be there. I taught Simone in the 7th grade, Texas History. I was so amazed with her determination and daily practice. I asked for her autograph and told her she would achieve great things, she has not let me down.
