Senior Triumvirate Provides Impressive Marks Across 50-100-200 Freestyles at NCAA Champs

During the recent NCAA Championships, three men appeared in the championship final of the 50-yard freestyle, 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle. This club represented an impressive combination of sprint skill shared by Tennessee’s Jordan Crooks, Cal’s Jack Alexy and Texas’ Chris Guiliano.

While Crooks captured an NCAA title in the 50 freestyle, the Cayman Islands star added a second-place showing in the 100 free and finished tied for sixth in the 200 freestyle. Meanwhile, Alexy was fourth in the 100 freestyle and placed fifth in the 50 free (tie) and 200 free as Cal ended up second in the team standings.

An Olympic qualifier for the United States in the 50 free, 100 free and 200 free last summer in Paris, Guiliano helped Texas to its 16th team crown by placing second in the 200 freestyle and fifth in the 50 free (tie) and 100 free.

Here is a breakdown of the best times in each event from Crooks, Alexy and Guiliano during action at the King County Aquatic Center. An aggregate time is also included.

As an aside, Florida’s Josh Liendo did not get the chance to swim a 200 freestyle at the NCAA Championships. However, his combined times from the 50 free (18.23) and 100 free (39.99), along with his 200 free split from the SEC Championships (1:30.19), formed an aggregate time of 2:28.41.
