Ruta Meilutyte provided an answer to Yuliya Efimova’s top-ranked time in the women’s 100-meter breast with a sizzler of her own at the Edinburgh International.
Earlier this month, Efimova threw down a smoking top-ranked time of 1:05.70 in the event at the Arena Pro Swim Series Orlando. Today, Meilutyte checked in with a second-ranked 1:05.82, going out in 30.40.
Yvette Man-yi Kong took second today in 1:07.88, while Corrie Scott finished third in 1:08.33.
Siobhan O’Connor cranked out a swift time of 2:10.32 to win the women’s 200-meter IM. That performance pushed her to third in the world behind only Katinka Hosszu (2:07.69) and Alicia Coutts (2:09.99). Aimee Willmott took second in 2:11.66 for sixth in the world, while Hannah Miley claimed third in 2:14.59.
O’Connor doubled up with a 58.79 to win the women’s 100-meter fly. Jemma Lowe (58.80) and Laura Stephens (59.38) finished second and third.
Stephen Milne raced his way to fifth in the world rankings in the men’s 400-meter IM with a 3:48.51. Nicholas Grainger finished second in 3:51.59 with Maarten Brzoskowski earning third in 3:52.09.
Adam Peaty pushed his way to seventh in the world with a 27.66 in the men’s 50-meter breast. Charlie Attwood took second in 28.52 with Caba Siladji snaring third in 28.57.
Ben Proud moved up to sixth in the world in the men’s 100-meter free with a 48.52. Duncan Scott (49.69) and Robbie Renwick (49.77) rounded out the top three.
Ranomi Kromowidjojo topped the women’s 50-meter free race in 25.65, off her eighth-ranked 24.73 from the Hague Grand Prix. Mie Nielson placed second in 25.85 with Maaike De Ward claiming third in 25.88.
Max Litchfield won the men’s 400-meter IM in 4:18.35. Matthew Johnson took second in 4:23.26 with Lewis Smith earning third in 4:28.73.
Elizabeth Simmonds captured the women’s 200-meter back crown in 2:10.17 with Jessica Fullalove taking second in 2:10.69. Kirsty Simpson picked up third in 2:13.53.
Luke Greenbank hit the wall first in the men’s 200-meter back with a 2:00.03. Joe Hulme snared second in 2:01.11 with Craig McNally taking third in 2:01.44.
