The Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) hosted the 4A State Championships on Friday, Nov. 12 at the Sailfish Splash Waterpark and Aquatics Center in Stuart, Fla.

Riverview’s Gracie Weyant got her hand to the wall first in the 200 IM, touching in 2:02.32. She also posted a dominant performance in the 100 breast, winning in 1:01.61 to best the field by nearly one-and-a-half seconds.
Heidi Smithwick of Jupiter, a future Princeton Tiger, sprinted to the top of the podium in the 50 free with a time of 22.72 to win by a half-second. Kentucky commit Jordan Agliano of Lake Nona flew to first place in the 100 fly, clocking in at 53.03 ahead of Smithwick (53.85).
Agliano was also the runner-up in the 100 back (55.26) behind soon-to-be Bearcat Grace Gavin (55.09) of Creekside.
Oviedo picked up a pair of individual victories: junior Kaylin Herbet was the state champion in the 100 free after throwing down a time of 50.74 to win by just .02. Fellow junior Gabriella Goodwin was victorious in the 500 free, touching in 4:50.84 to capture the title by .05.
Riverview sophomore Addison Sauickie led the way in the 200 free in 1:47.78, followed by Winter Park’s Lockett Bowley who also broke the 1:50-barrier in 1:49.75 for second. On the boards, Boca Raton’s Emilie Moore dove to first place with a final score of 471.40.

Riverview’s Liam Custer dominated the 200 IM for the second year in a row, finishing in 1:46.82 to win the event by three seconds. The Stanford commit then repeated as state champion in the 500 free, winning the event by six seconds with a time of 4:21.11.
Two swimmers cracked the 20-second marker in the 50 free: Seminole’s Dawson Joyce (19.77) and Sandalwood’s Larry Salls (19.97). Joyce, who has signed with Florida, also successfully defended his state title in the 100 free, winning that event as well in a time of 43.80.
Miami Palmetto Senoor’s Kyle Korvick cruised to first in the 200 free, turning in a time of 1:36.85 to beat the field by well over a second. Celebrations’s Felipe Costa won the 100 back in 49.04 while Juan Mora of Doral Academy was the 100 breast champion in 54.71.
William T. Dwyers’s Christian Torres was the champion on the 1-meter diving with a final score of 401.35, and Mandarin’s Gage Hulbert stopped the clock in 48.01 for the gold medal in the 100 fly.
