Phoebe Bacon opted to swim the open girls’ 100 back Saturday evening at the Nation’s Capital Invitational instead of the 13-14 event, but it did not matter as she posted by far the quickest time of the competition, finishing in 52.82 to move up on the all-time 13-14 rankings in the event.

Bacon’s time ranks just behind Regan Smith’s new NAG record of 51.09 and Alex Walsh’s previous standard of 51.70. Bacon passes Kathleen Baker, who had previously been third on the list after clocking a 52.87 in 2013—three years before Baker would win an Olympic silver medal in the event.

Also on the night, Bacon won the 13-14 girls’ 50 free in 23.17 and led off Nation’s Capital’s victorious 13-14 girls’ 400 medley relay—part of NCAP’s sweep of the four relays contested on the night.

The senior division featured no double winners on the evening, but plenty added to strong performances from Friday night. On the girls’ side, NCAP’s Isabella Fati added the 200 fly to her win in the 100 fly, posting a time of 1:59.99, and her teammate Anna Belousova won the 200 breast in 2:10.05 after winning the 100 breast and 400 IM Friday night.

NCAP’s Sam Pomajevich posted a dominant effort in the boys’ 200 fly, clocking 1:43.67, but he could not take down teammate Liam Stone in the 500 free, as Stone posted a strong time of 4:20.75, adding to his win in the 1650 free from Thursday night.

NCAP’s Spencer Rowe completed the boys’ breaststroke sweep, winning the 200 breast in 1:57.71, and Machine’s Christian Ginieczki won the 100 back in 49.19.

A night after leading off Machine’s 200 free relay in 20.01, Tommy Hallock had his sights on a sub-20-second swim in the 50 free, but he fell just short, coming in at 20.00. Older brother Michael Hallock, who finished third in the race, immediately swam over from the next lane to both congratulate and console his brother, who admitted Friday night he was pushing to break that barrier.

NCAP’s Katie Mack took home the win in the girls’ 50 free, touching in 22.82, and teammate Isabella Rongione won the 500 free in 4:50.44. Interestingly, Rongione’s training partner Chase Travis actually posted the top time of the night in the 500, winning the 13-14 event in 4:49.92.

In other 13-14 action, Machine’s Ben Charles won his third event of the meet in the boys’ 50 free, clocking 21.39, as did Poseidon’s Noah Nichols in the 200 breast (2:06.03). Machine’s Anna Keating also completed the breaststroke sweep for the 13-14s, winning the 200 in 2:14.57.

NCAP’s Leo Goldblatt added the 200 fly to his win in the 1650 from Thursday night, clocking 1:55.28, but he and Charles both came up short in the 500 free, as NCAP’s Hayes Goetcheus posted an impressive 4:42.39 for the victory.

In the 11-12 girls age group, Westchester’s Yilinna Collmar added 50 free (24.33) and 50 back (27.75) wins to her ledger, and teammate Esther Lim added the 100 breast (1:06.71) to her two wins from Friday night. NCAP’s Cole Greenberg, another of Friday night’s double winners, added a first place finish in the boys’ 200 IM, touching in 2:04.47.
