Women’s Meet:
In the first event of the morning, Emily Rollo topped her own meet and open records in the 200 backstroke. The W&L junior touched in 2:02.16. Teammates Kira Tomenchok and Stephanie Foster finished second and third in 2:07.59 and 2:10.09.
Elisabeth Holmes will attempt to go three for three on ODAC titles tonight. This morning she dropped three quarters of a second to claim the top seed in the 100 freestyle with a 52.97. She was just ahead of Emory and Henry’s Jessica Richardson (52.99) and the General’s Elle Chancey (53.00). With these three ladies racing, the 2004 meet record of 52.65 could fall.
Michaela Nolte proved that she is the breaststroker of the weekend, cruising to a top seed and dropping her own meet and open records with a 2:20.32 in the 200. Hollins’ Claire Webber came off her third place finish in the 100 to take the second seed this morning in 2:26.76. She finished just ahead of Washington and Lee’s Jillian Leigh (2:27.05).
Washington and Lee took the top four seeds in the 200 butterfly. Cassidy Fuller lead the way with a 2:08.85. Haylee Rademann and Mara Tynan touched close together in 2:10.16 and 2:10.33.
In prelims of the 400 freestyle relay, Emory and Henry swam Adaira Brewer, Taylor Guardalabene, Kelsey Jones, and Marina Moore to earn the top seed in 3:43.96. Randolph-Macon took second with Rachel Leigh, Mollie Smith, Kata Kylliainen, and Megan Granger in a 3:45.32. The Generals touched third (3:49.77) with Allison Murtagh, Jordan Watson, Shannon Belforti, and Maddie Simko.
Emory and Henry’s Nicole Powell topped morning 1650 action with an 18:43.40. Timed finals of the top eight will be swum tonight.
Men’s Meet:
The top three swimmers in the 200 backstroke were solidly under two minutes. Ivan Fadeyev of Randolph-Macon swam a 1:54.64 while W&L teammates Patrick Lawrence and Thomas Agostini touched in 1:56.60 and 1:56.98.
Conference record holder Tommy Thetford cruised through the morning 100 freestyle in a 47.25. He finished behind teammate Jake Burns (46.99), but ahead of Randolph-Macon’s Mohamed Saleh (47.39) who grabbed the third seed.
Randolph-Macon teammates Robert Redenz and Josh Carter each had three second drops to finish the morning as the first and second seeds with times of 2:09.75 and 2:09.91. W&L’s Trent Babcock dropped five seconds to earn third (2:10.00).
Noah Schammel dropped his own meet and open record in the 200 butterfly to a 1:52.83. Teammate Alex Fox earned the third seed with a 1:59.47. Hudson Elmore of Hampden-Sydney was second (1:58.95).
Randolph-Macon took the top 400 free relay seed. Redenz, Alex Daube, Daniel Whitehead, and Saleh swam a 3:22.60. W&L snagged second as Jacob Rosen, John Carmody, Austin Jennings, and Thomas Caldwell touched in 3:24.18. Hampden-Sydney was third (3:44.21) with the relay of Calvin Charles, Adrian Cothren, Conor Roberson, and Tate Socha.
