Oakland Men and Women Extend Lead After Day 3 Finals at the Horizon League Championships

Nikki Flynn from Oakland University ties Allison Schmitt’s pool record in the 200 freestyle and resets her own Horizon League record at the Horizon League Championships. Cleveland State’s Philipp Sikatzki breaks Horizon League record in the 100 fly and 100 back.

Women’s 400 IM
Oakland’s Patricia Aschan defends her Horizon League title by swimming a time of 4:13.64, breaking her previous record of 4:16.84 and swimming a time that is 6 seconds under the NCAA B time standard. Teammate Cassie Misiewicz from Oakland finished second in 4:19.80. Addison Skogman from Milwaukee finished second with 4:21.00.

Men’s 400 IM
The top two finishers in the men’s 400 IM both achieved a NCAA B cut. Mitchell Stover from Wright State won the event with 3:50.24. Nicholas Halverson from Milwaukee finished second in 3:54.43 and Gage Alleman from Cleveland State finished third in 3:55.04.

Women’s 100 Fly
Emily Hayhow from Wright State set the meet record in the morning with a time of 53.76 and reset it in finals by winning in a time of 53.15 and achieving a NCAA B cut. Molly McNamara from Cleveland State finished second in 54.63 and Haley Lucas from Green Bay finished third in 55.21.

Men’s 100 Fly
Philipp Sikatzki Cleveland State broke his own Horizon League record of 46.93 with a time of 45.90, a NCAA B cut. The top 3 finishers achieved NCAA B cuts. Teammate Szymon Golczyk finished second at 46.73. Paul Huch from Oakland finished third in 48.13.

Women’s 200 Free
Nikki Flynn from Oakland University set the Horizon League record in the 200 free from her lead off leg in the 800 free relay. She rebroke her record and tied Olympian 200 free gold medalist Allison Schmitt’s pool record with a time of 1:47.54. Viktoria Orosz from Youngstown State finished second in 1:48.40 and Amanda Siehs  from Milwaukee finished third in 1:49.33.

Men’s 200 Free
Tuomas Kiviluoma from Oakland won the event in 1:37.64, a NCAA B cut. Lucas Osgood from Wright State finished second in 1:38.72 with his teammate Wiehan Boshoff finished third in 1:39.05.

Women’s 100 Breast
Oakland claimed the top two finishes. Rachel Waite won the event in 1:01.85 and Takara Martin finished second 1:02.05, both earning NCAA B cuts. Tobie Zeller from Cleveland State finished third in 1:03.09.

Men’s 100 Breast
The top 5 finishers in the men’s 100 Breast earned NCAA B cuts. Oakland’s Devon Nowicki won in a time of 52.48, just .4 off the NCAA A cut. Quilliec Clement from Wright State finished second in 54.60 and Tommi Wolst from Cleveland State finished third in 54.65.

Women’s 100 Back
Sara Bentley from Milwaukee won in 55.12, while Oakland’s Talia Sola-Galindo finished second in 55.39 and Claire Friederick from Green Bay finished third in 55.93.

Men’s 100 Back
The top finishers earned NCAA B cuts. Sikatzki from Cleveland State broke his own previous Horizon League record of 46.98 in a time of 46.74. Oakland’s Huch finished second in 47.97 and his teammate John Ferrara finished third in 49.16..

Women’s 400 Medley Relay
The team of Sola-Galindo, Waite, Aschan and Morren from Oakland won with a time of 3:41.04. The team of Sofia Aledo Carmona, Kayla Fearrin, Hayhow and Samantha Miller from Wright State finished second in 3:42.60. Milwaukee’s Bentley, Natalie O’Connell, Kristin Zablocki and Siehs finished third in 3:45.20.

Men’s 400 Medley Relay
Only .05 seperated Oakland and Cleveland State. Oakland’s team of Huch, Nowicki, Kiviluoma and Jeremiah Morren won and broke the previous Horizon League by two seconds with a time of 3:10.42. Cleveland State’s Sikatzki, Wolst, Golcyk and Phillip Brittain finished second in a time of 3:10.47. Wright State’s Stover, Clement, Matthew Dassow and Osgood finished third in 3:14.55.
