NCSA Junior Nationals: Clay Youngquist Doubles

ORLANDO, Florida, March 16. THE first full evening of short course yard finals at the National Club Swimming Association (NCSA) Junior Nationals featured some strong swims, all streamed LIVE on SwimmingWorld.TV.
Lakeview's Clay Youngquist, a Swimming World six star recruit, opened up the night with a 43.74 to capture the men's 100 free title. Blue Dolfins' Matthew Curby wound up second in 44.49, while Highlander's Sean Duggan finished third in 44.52. Youngquist doubled up with a 1:46.80 to win the men's 200 fly. Nova of Virginia's Thomas Stephens finished second in 1:47.42, while Curl Burke's James Crabb placed third in 1:47.56.
Baylor's Kristen Vredeveld topped the women's 100 free in 48.32, while First Colony's Madeline Locus picked up second in 48.74. Aquajets' Rachel Bootsma finished third overall in 48.99. Bootsma followed that up with a winning time of 1:55.95 in the women's 200 fly. Nova of Virginia's Alison Haulsee, the 1000 free winner last night, took second in 1:57.54. Haulsee's teammate, Emma Nunn, completed the top three in 1:57.67.
Aquajets' Abigail Duncan claimed the women's 100 breast in 1:00.01 with Rockville Montgomery's Sarah Haase placing second in 1:00.83. First Colony's Skylar Smith nabbed third in 1:01.09. Fox Valley's Kevin Cordes cruised to victory in the men's 100 breast with a 53.67. Peoria Area's Matthew Elliott (53.84) and Curl Burke's Charles Katis (54.77) finished second and third.
Blue Tide's Jillian Vitarius dominated the women's 200 back in 1:54.04, while Vipers' Madison Bridges touched second in 1:56.87. Coast Guard's Amanda Carner placed third in 1:57.59. Rockville Montgomery's John Conger crushed the men's 200 back competition with a 1:43.44. Hillsboro Heat' s Connor McDonald finished second in 1:45.49, while Georgia Coastal's Preston Jenkins touched third in 1:45.52.
In relay action, Nova of Virginia's Haulsee, Alaina Brown, Susan Justis and Allison Titley captured the women's 800 free relay in 7:17.36, while Crimson's Kevin Bradley, Liam Egan, John Bailey and Jun Oh snared the men's 800 free title in 6:42.91.
