MANSFIELD, Texas, March 16. SEVENTEEN hours after breaking the second-oldest NCAA swimming record in existence, Andrey Seryy lowered the Division II men's 200 freestyle record even further this afternoon on the leadoff leg of Wayne State's 800 freestyle relay.
Seryy posted a speedy 1:35.05 in the race to erase the 1:35.61 he swam to win last night's individual race. Seryy swam a nearly-identical opening 100 than last night, splitting 46.05 as opposed to 45.93 in the individual final.
Seryy broke a 19-year-old record held by John Keppeler since 1993 with a 1:35.81.
Wayne State posted the fastest 800 freestyle relay time in this afternoon's timed final heat with a 6:32.49.
