Michigan, Auburn Latest Programs to Announce Participation in College Swimming League
The University of Michigan and Auburn swimming and diving programs will participate in the first season of the College Swimming League as one of the organization’s 12 competing institutions, the league announced.
The College Swimming League is a new league that aims to revolutionize college swimming with a concentration on fast-paced, fan-centric competition. The first season of the CSL will feature a six-meet regular season with a two-meet postseason in a four-team format. Each team in the league will compete in two meets during the regular season.
“I’m excited about the concept that Kyle Sockwell and Rob Kent have put together with the inaugural CSL College Swimming League,” Michigan head coach Matt Bowe said in a press release. “It’s exactly the kind of innovation our sport needs. Swimming has to continue evolving, and this is an exciting new way to showcase our student-athletes and bring together some of the very best teams in the NCAA. This is going to be a fantastic event filled with fast racing, great energy, and an opportunity to help take collegiate swimming to the next level.”
“We are pumped to join the inaugural season of the CSL,” Auburn head coach Ryan Wochomurka said in his school’s release. “We look forward to racing the best teams in the country in such an innovative, exciting and broadcast-ready format. War Eagle!”
Michigan is coming off a historic season in 2025-26 with the women’s team capturing the Big Ten title for the 18th time in program history and both teams finishing inside the top 10 at the NCAA Championships in March.
“Michigan is one of the most established names in this sport, and getting the Wolverines into our first season is a big deal for the league,” said CSL CEO Kent. “They bring a deep tradition and a national following that reaches well beyond Ann Arbor.”
