The final night of Columbia Speedo Sectionals was full of strong wins in every event. Notably, Michael Andrew, who began the meet yesterday, picked up two more wins in both of his events. Additionally, Rockford’s Lauren Votava further showcased her dominance, winning the 50 freestyle to bring her total to four.
The night kicked off with the final heats of the women’s and men’s miles. On the women’s side. CSP Tideriders’ Alexis Daniels picked up the win by a solid seven seconds with a time of 17:20.46. Taking second to her was Lincoln Select’s Jessica Storer, who finished in 17:27.43. Third place went to Katherine Sullivan of the Kansas City Blazers, whose time was 17:30.61.
The men’s mile could hardly have been considered a race. Dropping two and a half seconds from his entry time, Missouri State’s Minki Kang led the race from start to finish, winning by 20 seconds in a time of 15:50.97. The second and third place finishers, Louis Behnen and Adam Grimm, each dropped from their entry times as well, coming in at 16:10.43 and 116:14.50 respectively.
In the women’s 200 IM, another CSP Tideriders swimmer took home the title. 17 year old Genevieve Pfeifer finished first in a time of 2:16.72. Pfeifer was nearly two seconds ahead of second place finisher Dannie Dilsaver out of Greater Nebraska, who swam to a time of 2:18.53. Dilsaver’s teammate, Caroline Theil, was third in 2:20.74.
Andrew’s first win of the night came in the men’s 200 IM. He too had a strong win, touching at 2:01.36. Second place finisher Paul Le out of Missouri State came in at 2:05.12. Flyers’ Nicholas Alexander finished third in 2:06.36.
Votava’s final win rounded out an excellent meet for her. She finished first in 26.16, dropping .15 from her entry time. Megan Keil, representing Wichita Aqua Shocks was second in 26.43, while Kansas City Blazer’s Haley Hynes touched third in 26.58.
In the last event of the meet, the men’s 50 freestyle, Andrew picked up his final win by over half a second. He recorded a time of 22.55, once again of Le, who was 23.28. Sean Feher of Springfield rounded out the top three barely behind Le in 23.29.
