Matthew Wylie, Josef Craig Among British Record Setters at Final Day of Para-International
In the final day of the 2016 British Para-International nine National records were set.
Hannah Russell set the S12 British record in prelims of the 50 freestyle, stopping the clock at 27.22. At night, Russell lowered that to a 27.01 to win the event. Stephanie Slater finished second in 30.89, in the S8 classification. Eleanor Robinson touched in 35.63 to finish third in the S6 classification.
Matthew Wylie set the S9 British record in prelims of the men’s 50 freestyle, touching the wall in 25.96. In finals, he dropped the record down to a 25.69. Ryan Crouch finished second in 26.43, also in the S9 classification. Josef Craig posted the S8 British record in 27.27 to finish in third place.
In finals of the women’s 200 IM, Bethany Firth set the S14 British record in 2:21.93 as she won the event. Eleanor Simmonds finished second in a 3:04.13 in the S6 classification. Jessica Jane-Applegate was the third place finisher with a 2:30.52, under the S14 classification. Fourth place finisher Harriet Lee set the S10 British record with a 2:35.33. Grace Harvey set the S7 British record in 3:14.19 as she finished 16th.
Kahoru Harazawa set the men’s S10 British 200 IM record this morning in 2:17.44. He improved that time this evening to a third place finish of 2:16.35. Oliver Hynd won the event in 2:24.51, under the S8 classification. Sascha Kindred finished second in 2:43.20, in the S6 classification. Fourth place finisher Thomas Hamer set the S14 British record with a time of 2:15.65.
Lyndon Longhorne set the men’s 150 m IM record with a 2:55.02 in the S4 classification.
