Marco Orsi, Katie Meili Shine at 2015 Bolzano International Swim Meet
Italy’s Marco Orsi and USA’s Katie Meili each finished the 2015 Bolzano International Swim Meet with three wins each.
Following day one where each picked up a pair of wins, Orsi and Meili came through with their third victories today.
Orsi won the men’s 50-meter free in 21.57 with USA’s Cullen Jones taking second in 22.13. That was a bit short of the meet record, after winning both the 100 free (46.98) and 100 IM (53.11) yesterday.
“Unfortunately I made a few little things wrong, but overall I’m satisfied with my performances in Bolzano,” Orsi said.
Meili, meanwhile grabbed the crown in the women’s 100-meter breast with a time of 1:04.40 that would have ranked her fourth in the world last year. That effort crushed her previous meet record of 1:05.87 from last year.
Meili also won the 50 breast and 100 IM yesterday.
Bahamas’ Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace claimed another meet record with a sizzling 23.93 in the women’s 50-meter free. With that swim, she’s the first woman to break 24 seconds in Bolzano. She downed Madison Kennedy (24.31) and Erika Ferraioli (24.76) in the process.
The Netherlands’ Kira Toussaint took down another meet record, this time with a time of 27.15 in the women’s 50-meter back. That swim broke Laura Letrari’s 2009 meet mark of 27.44.
Other winners include:
