North Baltimore’s Chase Kalisz was right there as well, touching third in 1:57.32. Those three times are the fastest by Americans so far this year.

Women’s 100 Back
Colorado Stars’ Missy Franklin took the win in her last event of the meet in one of the two events in which she won Olympic gold four years ago in London. Franklin touched in 1:00.50, well off the 59.80 she swam in February for 13th in the world this year, but plenty fast enough to beat out second-place finished Tasija Karosas, who touched in 1:01.11. Tucson Ford’s Bonnie Brandon was third in 1:02.76.
Quinn Carrozza took fourth in 1:03.64, just ahead of Regan Barney in 1:03.69. Tucson Ford’s Cameron McHugh (1:03.81), Longhorn’s Victoria Edwards (1:03.97) and Longhorn’s Lisa Boyce (1:04.14) also swam in the A-final.

Men’s 100 Back
Tucson Ford’s Matt Grevers crushed the competition in the event he won Olympic gold in four years ago in London. He clocked 53.48, just a bit off the 53.35 he swam in the same pool in January that ranks 12th in the world. But the time also lags behind the marks clocked by domestic rivals David Plummer (52.40) and Ryan Murphy (52.76) Saturday at Arena Pro Swim Series meets as the 100 back shapes up to once again be among the most competitive races at Olympic Trials later this month.
Nation’s Capital’s John Shebat took second to Grevers in 55.12, and Athens Bulldog’s Taylor Dale grabbed third in 55.44. Nitro’s Isaac Gwin edged Tucson Ford’s Chatham Dobbs for fourth, 56.73 to 56.74, and that duo was followed closely by TOPS’ Kyle Robrock (56.77), Ian LeMaistre (56.79) and Katy’s Austin Vacek (57.87).

In a repeat of the 2015 NCAA final, North Baltimore’s David Nolan beat Will Licon by almost exactly one second to wrap up the meet. Nolan came in at 1:59.40, and Licon, who earlier in the evening won the 100 breast, took second in 2:00.41. North Baltimore’s Mohamed Hussain rounded out the top three in 2:02.03.
North Baltimore’s Austin Surhoff finished fourth in 2:03.16. The swim marked possibly the last for Surhoff in the University of Texas pool after he swam for the school from 2009 to 2013, winning an NCAA title in the 200 IM in 2010.
Nitro’s Sean Grieshop (2:04.55), Club Seminole’s Pavel Sankovich (2:04.64), Andrew Porter (2:04.95) and Mason Tenney (2:05.01) also competed in the championship final.
