Lauren Case Takes Gold In Three Events On Day 3 Of Nashville Sectionals

Day three of the Nashville Speedo Sectionals were completed tonight. The men’s and women’s 200 fly, 50 free, 200 breast, 100 back and 400 free were swam.
Lauren Case of Gold won the women’s 200 butterfly with a 2:11.22. With this time, she along with second place swimmer, Christina Bechtel of Kentucky Aquatics (2:11.67) qualified for Olympic trials. Dynamo’s Jane Foelske came in third place with a 2:16.12.
North Carolina Aquatic Club’s William Macmillan won the men’s 200 butterfly in the time of 2:00.33, getting the trials cut with this time. In second place was Kentucky Aquatic’s Isaac Jones with a 2:02.77 and Nicolas Albiero of Cardinal Aquatics took bronze with a 2:03.80.
Taking her second gold medal of the day in the women’s 50 free was Gold’s Case with a 26.47. Triton Swimming’s Tonner DeBeer came in second place with a 26.86 and Cardinal Aquatic’s Gabriela Albiero came in third place with a 26.94.
In the men’s 50 freestyle, Michael Arnold of Gold won the event with a 23.39. Fowler Family YMCA’s Eric Strickland took the silver with a 23.43 and Buckhead Aquatic’s MJ El-Amin II was third (23.91).
University of Louisville’s Lauren James won the women’s 200 breast with a 2:33.66. With this time she qualified for Olympic trials. Lexi Glunn from Gold went a 2:35.26 for second place and Dynamo’s Addie Farrington was a close third place with a 2:35.82.
Dynamo swept the men’s 200 breast podium. Jackson Ford won the event with a 2:19.37. His teammates Liam Bell (2:23.97) and Jonathan Yang (2:25.58) came in second and third place.
In the women’s 100 back, Louisville’s Alina Kendzior won with a 1:02.71 and qualified for Olympic trials. Kiley Vandevier of XCEL took second place with a 1:04.66 and Dynamo’s Raleigh Bentz went a 1:04.94 for bronze.
Michael Taylor of Dynamo won the men’s 100 back with a 55.79, which is an Olympic trials cut. Louisville’s Jacob DeMercurio took silver with a 57.26 and in third was Cardinal Aquatic’s Albiero, for his second bronze of the night.
In her final event of the day, Case of Gold won her third gold in the women’s 400 free. She went a 4:17.30, just snagging the Olympic trials cut. Kentucky Aquatic’s Kristen Wilson came in second place with a 4:22.29 and unattached, Bryn Handley came in third with a 4:23.27.
Kentucky Aquatic’s Isaac Jones won the men’s 400 free in the time of 3:59.26. Life Time South East Swim Team’s Sadler McKeen came in second place with a 4:02.66 and Grant House of Countryside YMCA Torpedoes came in third place with a 4:05.12.
