NEW COMMIT: Kaitlynn Sims has verbally committed to swim for the University of Michigan’s Class of 2023. Sims is from Montgomery, Texas, where she is a junior at Montgomery High School. She made the announcement on her Instagram account:

Sims is a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American, NISCA All-American and Junior National Qualifier. She has earned victories in the 500 Freestyle as a sophomore and junior at the Texas 6A High School Championships and won the 500 and 1,650 at the 2017 Winter Junior Championships – West for the Magnolia Aquatic Club. Most recently, Sims earned three top-eight finishes at the Atlanta stop of the 2018 TYR Pro Swim Series.

Sims’ Best Times:

  • 200 Free – 1:49.69

At the 2018 Big Ten Championships, Sims would placed eighth in the 1,650 and eleventh in the 500. She would have also made the ‘B’ Final in the 400 IM. Her mile would have qualified for the 2018 NCAA Championships and been right outside of scoring range. She did not swim this event short course in 2018, but has gone 16:31.90 so far this year in the 1500.

Michigan has also picked up a class of 2019 verbal commitment from Megan Glass.
