Genevieve Pfeifer Claims Two Titles At Jenks Sectionals Friday Night

Genevieve Pfeifer of the CSP Tideriders won back to back events at the Speedo Sectionals in Jenks, Oklahoma Friday night.
Pfeifer was dominant in the 200 freestyle. The 16 year old stopped the clock at 2:03.47, over a second ahead of Rockwood’s Jordan Stout in 2:04.83. Dannie Dilsaver of Greater Nebraska finished third in 2:05.96.
In the second event of the night, Pfeifer was first to the wall again, well ahead of the heat. She touched in 4:55.07 to take the 400 IM title. Splash Club’s Haley Downey touched out Lincoln Select’s 14 year old Berkeley Livingston 5:03.39 to 5:03.47.
Two men earned Olympic Trials times in the 100 butterfly. Martin Wallace touched in 54.43 and Kyle Ward of Splash Club was also under the 54.79 standard. Magnus Poulsen was third (54.89).
Another 16 year old ran away with the men’s 200 freestyle. William Bresette of Empire Swim Club was first to the wall by nearly two seconds, finishing in 1:53.30. Noah Reid of Tsunami Swim Club out touched Trident Aquatic Club’s Kevin Callan 1:55.28 to 1:55.29.
Flyers’ Nicholas Alexander was first to the wall in the men’s 400 IM, just a second shy of the Olympic Trials standard, finishing in 4:28.84. Columbia Swim Club teammates Dane Florea and Zachary Lorson finished second and third in 4:30.76 and 4:32.21.
Three swimmers came within seven tenths of the Trials cut in the 100 butterfly tonight. Laura Galarza lead the way in 1:01.61, with CSP’s Gabriela Vieira right on her tail in 1:01.79. Kansas City’s Cailey Grunhard finished third, just back in 1:01.85.
CSP carried their winning ways into the relays, claiming the women’s 400 freestyle tonight. Pfeifer, Melissa Melnick, Vieira, and Helen Wojdylo finished in 3:52.69. Rockwood’s Stout, Alyssa Lemon, Franceska Petrosino, and Anna Miller touched second in 3:54.55. Katherine Sullivan, Bentley Hulshof, Lauren Peterson, and Haley Hynes earned third in 3:56.80 for the Kansas City Blazers.
Oklahoma Baptist’s A team claimed the men’s 400 freestyle relay in 3:30.63 behind the team of Marc Sambolin, Andre Del Rio, Fernando Morillas, and Chad Brandon. Their B team of Alexander Mundt, Kristijan Stunkovic, Andrew Halliburton, and Ryan Walker was third in 3:34.02. Empire Swim Club’s Philip Musser, Garrett Spencer, Andrew Iseman, and Bresette touched second in 3:33.49.
