Colby Hurt Dominates 400 IM At Ithaca Sectionals Friday Night

Speedo Sectional Action continued in Ithaca Friday, with a few swimmers posting some dominant wins.
Regional YMCA of Western Connecticut’s Kira Page was well ahead of the final heat in the women’s 200 freestyle, taking the event in a time of 1:48.44. JCC Sailfish’s Alexa Kozlina out touched Caitlin McNary of Nutmeg Aquatics 1:50.71 to 1:50.91 as the two finished second and third.
Auston Ramsay of the South Shore YMCA was first to the wall in the men’s 200 freestyle, finishing in a time of 1:39.57. Jack McIntyre of Eastern Express battled for his second podium finish of the weekend, touching in 1:40.70, ahead of Charter Oak’s Joshua Wroblewski in 1:40.87.
Westchester’s Sophie Angus was well ahead of the field, as the 17 year old won the 100 breaststroke in an impressive 1:01.35. Joelle Vereb of 757 finished second in 1:03.37 and Patriot’s Katelyn Walsh rounded out the top three in 1:03.44.
Vereb came back one event later, where she topped the podium with a 54.51 100 butterfly. Her teammate Sofia Long tied for second in 55.62 with Mount Lebanon’s Trinity Ward.
The top three finishers in the men’s 100 breaststroke all cracked the 56 second marker. Eric Tong of X-Cel was first with a 55.48. Dillon Hillis of Manhattan Makos, and Evan Zhang of Laguardia Aquatic Club were just behind in 55.81 and 55.83.
In the next event, the 100 butterfly, Hillis finished third with a time of 49.65. Phoenix Aquatic Club’s Matthew Zugibe led the way with a winning time of 48.98. Blue Wave’s Stephen Clendenin was second in 49.45.
Colby Hurt of 757 absolutely dominated the women’s 400 IM. The 14 year old touched in 4:17.43, nine seconds ahead of second place finisher Maddie Heilbrun of Nation’s Capital (4:26.62). Laguardia’s Vanessa Chong touched third in 4:28.36.
Jersey Flyer’s Jason Arthur won a close men’s 400 IM, finishing in 3:53.68 to McIntyre’s 3:53.96. Matchpoint’s Oleksandr Bezuglyy finished third in 3:54.52.
757 won the women’s 800 freestyle relay in 7:35.22 with the team of Vereb, Carter Roehrle, Sofia Long, and Hurt. Nation’s Capital’s Allison Macmillan, Heilbrun, Caroline Rhodes, and Erin Quinn finished second in 7:37.65. Western Connecticut YMCA was third in 7:39.03 with the team of Mary Hufziger, Kira Page, Amelia Wootton, and Rachel Brown.
The men’s 800 freestyle relay went to Eastern Express after the team of Connor Doyle, Jacob Lubinski, McIntyre, and Collin Hanlon finished in 6:43.34. Nation’s Capital’s Ian Vollmer, Hugh Robey, Brock Cudahy, and Steven Thalblum finished second in 6:55.25. South Shore YMCA was third in 6:57.66 with the team of Graham Barrett, Auston Ramsay, Nicholas Toepfer, and Henry Mooers.
At the end of night two, Eastern Express leads the men’s standings with 102.5 points, well ahead of second place Matchpoint with 55. Nation’s Capital has 162 points to lead the women’s, though 757 is not far behind with 124.5 points for second.

I believe Sofia Long of 757swim tied for 2nd in the 100 Fly, not 3rd as indicated. You even have the same time listed for her and the 2nd place finisher?
