Illinois Swimming and Diving Completes Two-Day Win Over Iowa State

The Illinois Fighting Illini swim and dive team finished the second half of their dual meet against Iowa State on Saturday (Oct. 18). The Fighting Illini won eight out of 11 events to win the day 123-82 over the Cyclones.

The 400 medley relay team of Sophia Paduano, Kayla Duran, Chloe Diner and Eva Allan started the afternoon off with the first win clocking in at 3:47.89. Diner a few events later won the 100 breaststroke (1:03.49), Paduano did so in the 200 backstroke (2:05.06) and Allan won the 200 freestyle (1:54.01).

Sara Jass claimed two event crowns for Illinois in the 100 freestyle (51.92) and 400 IM (4:22.44). Liv Dorshorst earned gold in the 500 freestyle (5:03.53). The 200 freestyle relay team of Isabella Wilhelm, Sophia Yousuf, Audrey Cavaliere and Allan finished out the weekend with one last win (1:36.29).

On the Illinois diving side, Bethany Mercer placed third in the one-meter dive with a new personal-best score (277.15), Elleka Boeres placed fourth (273.60), Matilda Garcia finished fifth (270.55) and Carlie Rose placed 10th (242.70). Rose also later competed in the platform dive where she took fifth place (196.10).
