Gabriella O’Neil Eclipses 200 Free Record at Louisiana DII State Championships

The 2019 Louisiana Division II Swimming State Championships took place on Nov. 21 at the SPAR Aquatic Center in Sulphur, La.
Saint Scholastica’s Gabriella O’Neil broke her own DII record in the 200 free, posting a time of 1:53.42 to eclipse the 1:53.74 she set last year en route to being named Meet MVP. Lee Magnet’s Riley Brown earned the accolade on the boys’ side.
Behind O’Neil’s stellar performances, Saint Scholastic earned the team title for the ninth-straight season with 455.5 points, well ahead of runner-up St. Thomas More (284). The boys of Holy Cross used impressive depth to clinch the championship crown for the second-consecutive year with a final score of 362 over Ruston (249).
