Four Swimmers Qualify For Olympic Trials On Richmond Sectionals Day Two

Day two of the Richmond Speedo Sectional Championships was completed today. The men’s and women’s 200 free, 100 breast, 100 fly and 400 IM were swam.
In the women’s 200 free Egg Harbor’s Amanda Nunan won the event in the time of of a 2:02.96. Madelyn Donohone of Fish went 2:03.23 for the silver and her teammate Michelle Owens came in third pace with a 2:04.54.
Jake Sannem from Upper Dublin went a 1:51.59 to take gold in the men’s 200 free as well as get an Olympic trials qualifying time. His teammate Alessandro Bortto finished second with a 1:54.93 and Columbia Aquatic’s Taye Baldinazzo took the bronze with a 1:55.31.
Deleware Swim Team’s Olivia Paoletti won the women’s 100 breast with a 1:12.05. In a close second place was Tide Swimming’s Lauren Barakey with a 1:12.28 and Holly Jansen of the Potomac Marlins touched the wall first with a 1:12.45.
In the men’s 100 breast Brendan McHugh of Greater Philadelphia Aquatic Club took the gold. He won with a 1:03.12, which is an Olympic trial qualifying time. Matthew Otto of Delaware Swim Team went a 1″05.27 for the silver and Eric Fuhs of Tide Swimming was third (1:06.11).
Touching the wall in a 1:00.96, an Olympic trials cut, was Callie Dickinson of Tide, to win the women’s 100 butterfly. Abigail Harter of Nation’s Capital finished second with a 1:01.77 and the bronze went to Hannah Lindsay of All Star Aquatics with a 1:01.93.
Jacob Johnson of Delaware Swim Team won the men’s 100 fly with a 54.60, qualifying for Olympic trials. Ryan Dunne, unattached, was a close second place with a 54.73 and in third was James Wilson of Lancaster Aquatics was third with a 55.70.
Taking gold in the women’s 400 IM was Danika Katzer of Coast Guard with a 4:56.80. Bailey Bonnet from Chapel Hill came in second place with a 4:59.88 and for her second, top three finish was Donohoe from Fish with a 5:05.18 for third place.
In the men’s 400 IM, Jose Jacome of Lancaster Aquatics won the event with a 4:34.85. Benjamin Skopic of Eagle Swim Team took silver with a 4:35.19 and with a 4:39.38 Daniel Berlitz of Parkland Aquatics touched the wall third.
