Florida International clinched the 2017 Conference USA Championship with a margin of victory of almost 200 points over second place Rice.
FIU started the night off with a win in the 1650 from Kyna Pereira at 16:27.48. Rice’s Sarah Nowaski finished second at 16:30.66 and Rice’s Hanna Huston was third at 16:35.65.

Rice had a big race of their own in the 200 back with a 1-2 finish from Alicia Caldwell and Jaecey Parham. Caldwell won the race with a 1:57.17 while Parham was second at 1:58.37, just holding off FIU’s Skye Carey at 1:58.46.

She was just off the 1:56.91 record from 2015 set by Western Kentucky’s Susan Marquess. Kiley Beall of Rice was second (2:00.50) and Kaitlin Benjamin of Rice was third (2:02.06).
