Far Western Long Course Championships: Catherine Breed Sweeps Titles On Night Three

CONCORD, California, July 30. CATHERINE Breed, who swims for Pleasanton, completed a four-title sweep during the third night of swimming at the Far Western Long Course Nationals.
In the 17-18 events, Breed continued her strong meet with a winning 4:22.41 in the women's 400 free. Breed returned the next event for a double with a 26.83 to top the women's 50 free, before snagging her third win of the evening with a 2:23.49 in the women's 200 IM. Greg Harper earned the men's 400 free title in 4:12.03, while Chris Dotson took home the men's 50 free in 24.96. Evan Carlo picked up the men's 200 IM in 2:13.39.
In the 15-16 events, Megan Cox claimed the girls 400 free in 4:21.96, while Luis Macias snared the boys 400 free in 4:05.78 in a touch-out triumph over Noah Martin (4:05.91). Brittany Aoyama won the girls 50 free in 27.55, while Christian Brown posted a 24.66 for the boys 50 free win. Celina Li finished atop the girls 200 IM with a 2:21.61, while Ronald Chen earned the boys 200 IM title in 2:11.50. Pleasanton's Li, Allison Brown, Kirsten Brand and Breed won the women's 15-18 800 free relay in 8:30.34, while Walnut Creek's Jack Miller, Mason Kinnard, Andrew Dossa and Harper clinched the men's 15-18 800 free relay in 8:03.40.
In the 13-14 events, Jenna Bauer won the girls 400 free in 4:29.71, while Nick Silverthorn topped the boys 400 free in 4:07.86. Linnea Mack stopped the clock in 27.09 to win the girls 50 free, while Justin Lynch snatched the boys 50 free in 25.08. Ally Howe captured the girls 200 IM in 2:22.70, while Silverthorn doubled up with a 2:13.37 in the boys 200 IM. Palo Alto's Marie-Pierre Delisle, Howe, Carly Reid and Jennifer Campbell won the girls 800 free relay in 8:53.76. Their teammates Sean Nguyen, William Lee, Tommy Tai and Andrew Liang topped the boys 800 free relay in 8:20.34.
In the 11-12 events, Catherine Wu topped the girls 50 back in 31.71. That swim fell just short of Howe's Pac Swim record of 31.49 set in 2008. Jordan Vu won the boys 50 back in 30.80. Brittany Usinger clocked a 28.39 to win the girls 50 free, while Maxime Rooney edged Grant Watson, 27.38 to 27.39, for the boys 50 free crown. Chloe Isleta clipped Ariana Saghafi, 2:27.23 to 2:27.26, in the girls 200 IM. Daichi Matsuda pocketed the boys 200 IM win in 2:23.48.
In the 10 and under events, Camille Hui touched out Josephine Mah, 36.23 to 36.24, in the girls 50 back. Hui doubled up with a 30.76 to win the girls 50 free. Joshua Camerino earned the boys 50 back title in 35.69, while Ben Wooldridge claimed the boys 50 free in 30.04. Karah Folk snared the girls 200 IM victory in 2:44.17, while Wooldridge doubled with a 2:46.59 in the boys 200 IM.
