It is the third day of the 2017 European Short Course Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark. Russia’s Vladimir Morozov led a fast 50 freestyle prelims, while Finland’s Jenna Laukkanen got things started speedily for the women with the top seed in the 100 breaststroke.
The Netherlands closed the session with the top seed in the 200 freestyle. There were plenty of fast races in between.

Women’s 100 breaststroke
Finland’s Jenna Laukkanen took the top seed in the women’s 100 breaststroke to lead off the third day of prelims. Mona McSharry of Ireland was second (1:04.94), followed by Spain’s Jessica Vall Montero (1:05.42), Denmark’s Rikke Moeller Pedersen (1:05.61), Italy’s Arianna Castiglioni (1:05.72), Britain’s Jocelyn Ulyett (1:05.77), Italy’s Martina Carraro (1:05.79) and Russia’s Natalia Ivaneeva (1:06.00).

Men’s 50 freestyle
In the men’s 50 freestyle, Russia’s Vladimir Morozov took the top seed with a 20.72. Britain’s Benjamin Proud took the second seed (20.84), followed by Italy’s Luca Dotto (20.87), Russia’s Sergei Fesikov (20.96), Greece’s Kristian Gkolomeev (21.10), Italy’s Marco Orsi (21.16) and Italy’s Lorenzo Zazzeri (21.34), who did not advance to the semifinals because only two per country can qualify in each event.

Women’s 200 backstroke
Daryna Zevina of the Ukraine took the top seed in the 200 backstroke, finishing in 2:02.86. Britain’s Kathryn Greenslade was second during prelims in 2:03.23, followed by Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu (2:04.33), Italy’s Margherita Panziera (2:04.65), Hungary’s Kata Burian (2:04.93). Kira Toussaint (2:05.63) of the Netherlands was sixth, followed by Russia’s Anastasia Avdeeva (2:05.71) and Spain’s Africa Zamorano Sanz (2:05.89).

Men’s 100 breaststroke
Arno Kamminga of the Netherlands took the top seed in the 100 breaststroke, clocking a 56.63. Britain’s Adam Peaty was second (56.74), followed by Russia’s Kirill Prigoda (56.81), Ilya Shymanovich (56.84) of Belarus, Germany’s Fabian Schwingenschloegl (56.96), Italy’s Fabio Scozzoli (57.31), Ireland’s Alexander Murphy (57.69) and Italy’s Nicolo Martinenghi (57.78).

Women’s 200 butterfly
Germany’s Franziska Hentke took the top seed in the 200 butterfly (2:05.66), followed by Britain’s Charlotte Atkinson (2:05.93), France’s Lara Grangeon (2:06.29), Hungary’s Liliana Szilagyi (2:07.07), Turkey’s Nida Eliz Ustundag (2:07.26), Italy’s Stefania Pirozzi (2:07.30), Ilaria Bianchi (2:07.34) and Hungary’s Boglarka Kapas (2:08.01).

Men’s 200 IM
Germany’s Philip Heintz took the top seed in the 200 IM (1:53.60), just ahead of Greece’s Andreas Vazaios (1:53.88). Norway’s Tomoe Zenimoto Hvas was third (1:54.08), followed by Israel’s Yakov Yan Toumarkin (1:54.11), Portugal’s Diogo Filipe Carvalho (1:54.58) and Alexis Manacas Santos (1:55.14), Sweden’s Simon Sjoedin (1:55.26) and Kyle Stolk (1:55.35) of the Netherlands.

Women’s 200 free relay
The Netherlands took the top spot in the 200 freestyle relay prelims. Tamara Van Vliet, Valerie Van Roon, Kim Busch and Kira Toussaint finished in 1:37.14. Russia followed with a 1:37.44, followed by Denmark (1:37.64), Italy (1:37.74), Sweden (1:38.28), France (1:38.83), Norway (1:39.53) and Hungary (1:39.91).
