Emory Women Break D-3 National Record in 400 Free Relay at NCAA Championships

The 2017 NCAA Division III National Championships have finally come to a close and the Emory women have certainly left their mark.
Emory started the night with a whopping 471.5 points on the women’s side and 325 on the men’s. Both teams ended with the overall team title.
Women’s 400 Free Relay
NCAA Record: 3:21.28 – Rosenkranz, Larson, Wobler, Dobben (Emory – 2013)
2016 Champion: 3:21.37 – Muir, Sanchez-Aizcoorbe, Taylor, Bergh (Emory)
For the last time at the 2017 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships, the Emory women have broken an NCAA record. For the 8th time in a row now, the Emory women have won these Championships.
The team of Fiona Muir, Marcela Sanchez-Aizcorbe, Caroline Olson and Marissa Bergh earned a new record time of 3:19.56, the first group to break the 3:20 barrier in D-III history.
Emma Waddell concluded an incredible meet by anchoring the Ephs’ relay with a 49.11, the fastest of any split in the field and good enough to bring them home for second place, just two tenths ahead of Kenyon. This secured their runner-up honors ahead of Kenyon in the overall team scores.
