Dean Farris Posts 1:31.56 200 Free At Men’s Ivy League Championships
Dean Farris stole the show on night three of the 2017 Men’s Ivy League Swimming and Diving Championships. The Harvard freshman posted a time of 1:31.56 in the 200 free, fast enough for an NCAA Automatic cut.
His swim ranks him sixth on the all-time list and is first in the NCAA so far this year.
Not too long after that, Farris was back in the water to set a new meet record in the 100 back, just a hair shy of the A standard.

200 Free:
Harvard’s Farris dominated the 200 free tonight, posting a time of 1:31.56 to lead the field by nearly three seconds. Although his time from prelims broke the meet and pool record, his time tonight made them even faster. The previous meet record was set back in 2009 while the former pool record was set by Rowdy Gaines in 1980.
The freshman’s time is an NCAA A standard by nearly one and a half seconds. Coming into his freshman year, Farris’ best time in this event was 1:36.00.
Yale’s Adrian Lin took second in 1:34.25 and Harvard’s Aly Abdel Khalik finished third in 1:36.24.
