Daiya Seto Earns 200 IM Title at 2015 Japanese Intercollegiate Championships
Daiya Seto topped the men’s 200-meter IM finals at the 2015 Japanese Intercollegiate Championships.
Seto won in a time of 1:57.72. That’s a bit off his sixth-ranked season best of 1:56.82 from the Japanese Nationals in Tokyo.
With Kosuke Hagino withdrawing from the meet yesterday, Seto is one of the highest profile swimmers here at this meet.
Takeharu Fujimori finished second in 1:58.15 to move to 15th in the world rankings, while Keita Sunama earned third in 1:58.20 to better his 19th-ranked season best of 1:58.45 from the World University Games to 16th overall.
Miho Teramura won the women’s 200-meter IM title in 2:12.54, while Miyu Otsuka hit the wall in 2:12.69.
Masayuki Umemoto claimed the men’s 100-meter fly in 52.51, touching out Masato Sakai, who placed second in 52.52. Takeshi Kawamoto closed out the incredibly close finish with a third-place 52.53.
Nao Kobayashi captured the women’s 100-meter fly crown in 58.84 with Rino Hosoda hitting the wall second in 58.88.
Yuki Kobori picked up the men’s 200-meter free crown in 1:47.01 with Takumi Komatsu picking up second in 1:48.07.
Chihiro Igarashi won the women’s 200-meter free in 1:59.05. Tomomi Sayaka picked up second-place honors in 1:59.64 with Suzuka Hasegawa touching third in 1:59.81.
