Czech’s Jan Ziegler of Plavecky Veteransky Klub became the first man older than 90 years old to clear the 5:00 mark in the men’s 90-94 200-meter IM at the 2015 FINA World Masters Championships.

World Records

Czech’s Jan Ziegler of Plavecky Veteransky Klub became the first man older than 90 years old to clear the 5:00 mark in the men’s 90-94 200-meter IM with a world record time of 4:51.03.  He crushed the previous record of Tokushi Komeda, who clocked a 5:02.64 11 years ago in 2004.

South Africa’s Sanderina Kruger of Cape Town MSC downed the women’s 65-69 50-meter free world record with a 31.28.  That effort cleared her time from March of 31.35.  She’s responsible for the last four progressions of the record since USA’s Carolyn Boak held it with a 31.84 in 2010.

Sweden’s Anette Philipsson of Linkopings Allmanna SS lowered a vaunted Laura Val world record in the women’s 50-54 50-meter free with a 27.79.  That performance downed Val’s 14-year-old record of 28.22 set in August 2001.

Russia’s Anna Poliakova of Neva Stars turned in a world record time in the women’s 25-29 100-meter fly with a 59.99.  That’s the first sub 1:00 in the division, smashing Yuko Nakanishi’s 2010 record of 1:02.73.

Romania’s Ioan Stefan Ghergel of Gold Starts Baia Mare set the world record in the men’s 35-39 100-meter fly with a time of 55.35.  That swim cleared the previous record of 55.84 set by Eiji Nomura back in 2009.

Germany’s Dieter Hoefel of Sk Sparta Konstanz clocked a time of 36.86 in the men’s 70-74 50-meter breast.  That swim cleared the 37.23 world record set by Yoshihiko Osaki back in 2009.

Russia’s Sergey Geybel of Sibmasters threw down a 28.24 to set the world record in the men’s 30-34 50-meter breaststroke division.  That effort lowered his own mark of 28.47 set in April.

Russia’s Igor Golovin of Troyka cracked the men’s 25-29 50-meter breast world record with a 27.84.  That time just clipped Mark Gangloff’s global standard of 27.96 from 2011.

Meet Records

Germany’s Christel Schulz of Sg. Einheit Rathenow lowered the meet record in the women’s 75-79 50-meter free with a time of 35.48. That’s faster than the listed mark of 35.88, but slower than Jane Asher’s world record of 34.85 from 2006.

Schulz picked off another meet record with a 3:34.65 in the women’s 75-79 200-meter IM.  That’s a few seconds shy of Yoshiko Osaki’s world record of 3:32.94 from 2013.

Russia’s Natalia Vinokurenkova of Troyka put up a 2:22.12 in the women’s 30-34 200-meter IM to lowered the meet record.

She returned in the women’s 30-34 50-meter breaststroke with another meet record time of 32.40.  That was just off Nicole Heidemann’s world record of 32.22 from 2013.

Great Britain’s Emma Gage of Trafford Metro Bor Swim Club clocked a 25.73 to beat the meet record in the women’s 25-29 50-meter free.  That’s a bit off Annabel Kosten’s world record of 25.42 from 2004.

Hungary’s Bela Banki Horvath of Murena Szegedi Uszo was at it again with a meet record time of 1:18.26 in the men’s 95-99 50-meter free.

Russia’s Aleksei Manzhula of Neva Stars posted a 23.77 to down the men’s 35-39 50-meter free meet record, while Russia’s Sergey Mukhin of Tsunami clocked a 23.12 to clear the men’s 30-34 50-meter free meet record.

Belarus’ Pavel Zinkevich of Zubr topped the men’s 25-29 50-meter free meet record with a 22.94.

Austria’s Verena Klocker of Sc Ikb Stadtoasen clocked a time of 1:04.06 to lower the women’s 30-34 100-meter fly meet record.

Czech’s Petr Gregor of Swimmpower Prague set the meet record in the men’s 40-44 100-meter fly with a 57.30.

In the 200 individual medley Thomas Maine (90) became the oldest swimmer under five minutes in the event. He broke through the barrier with a 4:35.62 at the Spring Chicken Classic in June. Guess ratification process is still going on.
