Chelsea Piers Aquatics Dominate at Ithaca Speedo Sectionals

Chelsea Piers won the 2018 Speedo Sectionals Championship Series in Ithaca, NY, with a total of 1205 points. Second went to Crimson Aquatics with 638 points, followed by Nys Aquatics (556.5), Schenectady-Saratoga (447) and Seacoast (381).

Commonwealth’s Natalie Mannion began the night with a win in the women’s 200 back, stopping the clock in 1:57.93. Victor’s Megan Deuel also got under the two-minute barrier in 1:58.81 for second followed by third-place finisher Laura Rosado (2:00.33) of SoCo.

North Shore’s Jared Daigle won the men’s 200 back by nearly a second in 1:47.73. Tidal Wave’s Anthony Rincon (1:48.81) and Upper Valley’s Jack Wadsworth (1:49.21) also snuck under the 1:50 mark.

Condors’ Christiana Regenauer sprinted her way to a narrow win in the women’s 100 free, getting her hand to the wall in 49.35. Chelsea Piers’ Bridget Semenuk was second in 49.39 and her teammate Katherine Douglass finished third in 49.45.

Tidal Wave’s Kai Legband got the gold medal in the men’s 100 free with a time of 45.24. Laguardia’s Andy Lee grabbed the silver in 45.55 and Seacoast’s Brendan Sullivan earned the bronze in 46.33.

Not too long after her second-place finish in the women’s 100 free, Semenuk won the women’s 200 IM in 2:01.35. Her teammate Douglass touched the wall second in 2:01.88 and Blue Devils’ Miku Takabayashi finished third in 2:02.90.

Crimson’s Mitchell Gariepy touched the wall first in 1:51.67, followed by Daigle (1:51.95) and Northern Dutchess’s Thomas Graminski (1:52.30) to conclude the individual events.

Chelsea Piers’ Sophia Moore (55.71), Mary Christensen (1:01.91), Douglass (54.76) and Semenuk (50.87) won the 4×100 medley relay in a time of 3:43.25. Nys Aquatics finished second in 3:47.81 and Schenectady-Saratoga was third in 3:49.13.

Chelsea Piers’ Cole Pierce (51.95), Connor Morikawa (56.59), Benjamin Feldman (50.00) and Tyler Sicignano (46.32) won the 4×100 medley relay in 3:24.86. Adirondak was second in 3:25.45 and Crimson was third in 3:29.48.
