The 2020 Speedo Sectionals Cary continued Saturday from North Carolina as some of the Tar Heel State’s best performed some solid in-season times on Saturday night. 16-year-old Charlotte Hook of the TAC Titans was a two-time winner with an impressive 2:09.55 in the 200 butterfly to start the night. Hook is a rising star in the United States and should be a big factor for the national team in a couple of years. She also won the 400 freestyle to end the night with a 4:18.41, just ahead of 15-year-old Morgan Razewski (4:19.75) of Swim MAC Carolina.

Hook’s equally impressive TAC Titans teammate Claire Curzan, who is just 15, won the 50 freestyle with a 25.33. She followed that up with a 1:00.73 in the 100 backstroke as she is an up and coming star in this country.

NC State grad Justin Ress, coming off an ISL season with the Cali Condors, won the 100 backstroke with a solid time of 53.80. That time would have been second at the TYR Pro Swim Series tonight in Des Moines, Iowa, as Ress is one of the top sprinters in the country. Fellow NC State grad Jacob Molacek won the 50 freestyle with a 23.21, as he graduated from NC State last year.

The two oldest winners of the night won the 200 breaststroke as 29-year-old Olympian Micah Sumrall took the women’s race with a 2:29.65, while 28-year-old Jorge Murillo won the men’s race at 2:16.33.

Swim MAC Carolina’s Ethan Schneider won the 200 butterfly at 2:03.07.
