Cal Baptist’s Chacon Breaks Women’s 200 Butterfly RMAC Record on Day 3

Day 3 began of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships this morning hosted by Colorado Mesa University. The women’s and men’s 500 free, 100 back, 100 breast and 200 butterfly were swam. The women’s 200 butterfly RMAC record fell this morning.
Women’s Meet
Lindenwood’s winner of both the 1000 freestyle and 400 IM, Alecia McGillivray, also touched the wall first in the 500 freestyle this morning in the time of 4:58.77. Cal Baptist’s Christie Halverson came in second with a 5:01.39 and Hannah Vinyard of Lindenwood touched third (5:01.39).
Mary Saiz had the fastest time this morning in the women’s 100 backstroke with a 55.96. Colorado School of Mines, Claire Collier came in second with a 56.91 and Adam’s State’s Marissa Mantzey finished in third (57.62).
Alena Rumiantceva (1:03.39) placed first this morning in the 100 breast. Her teammate Robin Smallwood came in third with a 1:04.59. Ewa Dymarek of Lindenwood came in second with a 1:04.12.
Courtney Chacon of Cal Baptist got first in this morning 200 butterfly. She went a 2:04.39 and with this time she broke the 2013 RMAC of 2:05.27. Mesa’s Eryn Leonard finished second with a 2:05.66 and Lindenwood’s Vinyard placed third with a 2:06.93 after swimming the 500 free as well this morning.
Men’s Meet
Sam Bryant of Colorado Mesa, who won the 1000 free and 400 IM, had the fasted time of the morning in the men’s 500 freestyle with a time of 4:31.14. Lindenwood’s Felix Eigel had the second fastest time of 4:33.77 and Tanner Shore of Cal Baptist, is going into tonight seeded third (4.34.99).
Mesa’s Justin Hastings touched the wall first this morning in the men’s 100 backstroke in the time of 49.27. Colorado School of Mines took second and third in this morning’s event. Cort Hanson had the second fastest time of a 50.67 and teammate Justin Dearden finished third (51.00).
Mesa also had the fastest time in the men’s 100 breastroke. Josh Bedford went a 55.96 to be seeded first tonight. It was a race for second this morning between Lindenwood’s Mateusz Pacholczyk (56.32) and Samuel Knott of Cal Baptist who finished third in a 56.45.
Cal Baptist took the top three places this morning in the men’s 200 butterfly. Joshua Hanson, winner of the 200 IM, had the fastest time this morning with a 1:49.68. Chris Sander came in second with a 1:50.09 and Jean Monteagudo finished third (1:51.09).
Finals will begin tonight at 5pm (MST).
