Jaimie Miller, Will Manion Highlight Solid CAA Morning for the Tribe

Heading into the final night of CAA conference action, the Towson women will likely come up short of their fourth straight title. William and Mary is still holding off a tough fighting James Madison team. On the men’s side, William and Mary is still in control, and put together another solid morning of swimming.
Women’s Meet
Five women got under two minutes in the 200 backstroke this morning. Mary Elizabeth Warhol of James Madison lead the way with a nearly seven second drop, posting a 1:58.28. William and Mary’s Sophie Rittenhouse touched second in 1:53.28. Natalie Obando secured the third seed for Towson in 1:58.53.
The Tribe’s top seeded Jaimie Miller dropped a half second to keep her place with a 49.70. Two JMU teammates, Kristen Zielinski and Camilla Czulada will also try to get under 50 tonight, after posting times of 50.03 and 50.18 this morning.
Towson senior Jenna Van Camp swam a top seeded 2:13.00 200 breaststroke this morning. She was followed by Drexel’s Rachel Bernhardt in 2:14.12. Katie Parker of JMU snagged third (2:15.32).
Jessie Ustjanauskas of William and Mary dropped over four seconds to grab the top seed in the 200 butterfly (1:58.78). She was followed by Northeastern’s Delaney Lanker in 2:01.38. JMU’s Cameron Martin followed closely in 2:01.76.
The 400 freestyle relay will also be swum tonight.
Men’s Meet
William and Mary senior Will Manion was a second and a half off his own CAA record in swimming a top seeded 1:45.89 200 backstroke this morning. Teammate Alex Henderson was second in 1:46.35. Dominic Breschi of Towson earned the third seed (1:46.36).
The 100 freestyle had three men break the 45 second barrier. Drexel’s Joel Berryman touched in 44.47, ahead of William and Mary teammates Joseph Eiden (44.74) and Billy Russell (44.94).
Three men cracked two minutes in the 200 breaststroke prelims, and Jeremiah O’Donnell of William and Mary once again emerged as a top seed. The senior posted a 1:58.52, while teammate Josh Zimmt swam a 1:59.30 for third. Drexel’s Joseph Brown earned second in 1:59.10.
In the 200 butterfly, Towson’s Jack Saunderson stopped the clock at 1:46.08 in the 200 fly. That time is within striking distance of the CAA record of 1:45.68. Tommy Kealy of William and Mary was close behind with a 1:46.70. Kyle Lukens grabbed the third seed for Drexel in 1:48.09.
