OKLAHOMA CITY – Baliee Blankemeier of Concordia-Irvine nearly took down a 22-year-old NAIA record in the 400-yard IM at the NAIA Championships last night.
Shortly after her swift swim, Blankemeier talked with Swimming World’s Lileana Pearson.
Blankemeier is just a freshman out of Desert Vista, Ariz., so that record is likely on notice for the next three years.
“Concordia-Irvine’s Baliee Blankemeier just missed another 1993 Lourette Hakansson record after Christine Tixier downed her 200-yard IM last night.
Blankemeier posted a 4:24.27 in the women’s 400-yard IM, just off Hakansson’s 4:24.03 from 22 years ago. Brenau’s Courtney Hayward took second in 4:24.87 with Biola’s Lisa Tixier taking third in 4:28.72.”
She has worked hard for many years for this. Good swim Girl!!!
