Aliena Schmidtke Among Olympic Trials Cut Performers at Speedo Sectionals in Geneva
Aliena Schmidtke was one of a handful of swimmers to clear the U.S. Olympic Trials cut tonight at the 2016 Speedo Sectionals in Geneva.
Alexandria Norris cleared the Olympic Trials cut in the women’s 200-meter free with a winning 2:01.13. Delaney Barnard (2:03.01) and Aliena Schmidtke (2:04.78) finished second and third.
Schmidtke returned in the women’s 100-meter fly with a Trials cut time of 1:00.93. Kaitlyn Johnson (1:01.36) and Christine Jensen (1:02.39) rounded out the top three.
Bryce Bohman claimed an Olympic Trials cut in the men’s 100-meter fly with a 53.78. Spencer Carl also barely nipped the cut of 54.79 with a 54.78 for second. Janko Radmanovic wound up third in 54.86.
Olivia Johnson turned in a 4:53.21 in the women’s 400-meter IM to clear the Olympic Trials cut. Diana Dunn (4:55.76) and Margaret Jahns (4:59.11) placed second and third behind her.
Andrej Ivanovic won the men’s 200-meter free in 1:53.06, while Rodolfo Aguilar-Fernandez placed second in 1:53.67. Sebastian Konnaris finished third in 1:54.94.
Jacob Foster topped the men’s 400-meter IM in 4:30.35. Ian Miskelley (4:37.42) and Grant Thompson (4:37.89) claimed second and third.
