Alabama Swimming Sweeps Delta State to Open Season

The University of Alabama swept Delta State to open the season on Friday, Sept. 26.

The Alabama men won 230-64 and the women won 242-39.

In the women’s meet, Alabama opened the meet with Emily Jones, Jada Scott, Gaby Van Brunt and Cadence Vincent won the 200 medley relay in 1:37.66.

Vincent won the 200 free in 1:48.12 and 50 free in 22.21. Jones won the 100 backstroke in 54.54 and 200 back (1:59.07). Scott won the 100 breaststroke (1:02.04) and 200 IM (2:03.40). Van Brunt won the 100 free in 51.13.

Senior Stella Watts won the 1000 free in 10:17.66. Victoria Raymond was first in the 200 butterfly (1:59.30) and 100 fly (54.20). Melina Michaelides won 1-meter diving (254.33). Madyson Hartway won the 200 breaststroke (2:18.26). Mackenzie Brandt won the 500 free (4:54.37). Rin Drudge won the 3-meter dive (293.93).

Vincent, Charlotte Rosendale, Van Brunt and Sarah Parker won the 200 free relay (1:31.90).

In the men’s meet, Alabama’s 200 medley relay of Jarrett Payne, Lance Johnson, Tim Korstanje and Jonathan Poole won in 1:28.11.

Korstanje won the 50 free in 20.03 and 100 fly (48.14). Johnson won the 200 IM (1:50.16) and the 200 breast (1:59.61).

Alabama’s Leonardo Alcantra won the 1000 free in 9:17.20 and 500 free (4:28.81). Adam Varga won the 200 free in 1:39.25. Cole Witmer won the 100 backstroke in 48.63 and 200 back (1:48.02). Noah Saylor won the 100 breast (54.58). Aaron Gasiewicz was first to the wall in the 200 fly (1:49.70). Colten Cryer won 3-meter diving (331.20) and 1-meter (350.63). Toni Dragoja won the 100 free in 44.48.

Hoole, Korstanje, Drayden Bell and Dragoja won the 200 free relay in 1:19.19.
